The treatment removes the hydrogen absorbed in the pores and cracks in the base material. Without the treatment, the product may be damaged or cracked, or the coating may blister.
The hydrogen removal treatment is performed on steel with a tensile strength of more than 700 N/sq mm. The treatment takes place in a batch-type furnace.
The time and temperature of the heat treatment depend on the tensile strength of the steel. The time and temperature values to be used are specified in the ISO 9588 standard.
